August 1-8 is also World Breastfeeding Week
this is what our group has done in the past:
-had family picnics at a park - home made banners on a tree
-family day at a waterpark... had silent auction and some giveaways for donations
-last year, scheduling conflicts didn't allow for a gathering, but we all split up and put flyers in every pediatrician's office, babies-r-us, kids resale shops, the city's libraries, and any other place that would let us put something on a bulletin board. We just emailed out a word document of our breastfeeding group's information, and most of our members printed a few and had them loaded!!
-just today, we went to the mall's indoor playground, many of the nurslings had breastfeeding tshirts (my mom has my milk in her shirt, and give a cow a break- breastfeed, boobie baby), and most put little "posters" like bumper stickers on their strollers.
I think dispursment of information is best. I think as much as the family picnics were fun. Posting flyers around town may have been more effective!!

get a tee shirt that says "dairy fairy" on it..... I can't remember where I saw it but I remember thinking I wished I had one! It was so cute and made a statement without being over the top. It was a breastfeeding advocacy site.
