If you are a gamer, you should not be purchasing a computer that has an integrated video controller that shares ram. You need to purchase a computer that has a plug-n-play graphics card with it's own ram.

Video RAM is memory (RAM = Random Access Memory) reserved for storing textures, sprites, icons, images, and other forms of graphics data that the video card has direct access to. It's a good thing to have Video RAM, as it improves 3d and 2d gaming performance.

But, you have SHARED video RAM, which isn't as good. Shared Video RAM means that the video card doesn't have its own video RAM, instead, it just uses up to the maximum (in your case, 256MB) amount of System RAM that it's allowed to use. This means that the video card doesn't have direct access to its Video RAM, meaning slower performance from video card, and laggier graphics, and also sharing system RAM for video means the video card takes RAM away from the main system, so your PC will have 256MB less RAM to work with when the video card is using it all.

I'd suggest getting a PC with dedicated video RAM, dedicated video RAM is memory that is on the graphics card itself, and is only used for video functions, leaving the System RAM alone, for the system to take full advantage of.
