No, once the person is dead,
they are written off the books.
IF the person had Social
Security, it will pay a small
amount towards a burial.
Also, if the person was indigent, the county would
cremate the remains, but will
not give the ashes to a relative unless they paid some
or all of the cremation costs.
If there are NO FUNDS to
bury the deceased, you (or
someone else) can go to the
County Morgue and they will
tell you what to do.
