I want to get parents opinions of a 14 and 15 year old going to an amusement park for six hours or so with cell phones. I would drop them up and pick them up at a certain time. Also, I had planned on them calling me every so often. Of course, would there be a problem I would definately pick them up early or come in to address it. I think it's important to give kids freedom but don't want to give TOO much. What do you think? Please, honest opinions only!

We live near an amusement park and I know parents of teens the same age who do this. The only difference is they remain in the park, but go their separate ways. The kids are also very familiar with the park because they have been numerous times before. Personally, I am not comfortable with the idea. There are a lot of pervs out there and my kids are precious and irreplaceable. I would wait til at least one of them is 16 or at the least, hang out in the park but away from them.

Well, let me tell you.... went i was 15 i bought a cell phone with my own money and then sold it because my Mom would call me so often lol. Second i think that what you really need to do is to give them a littler break and just tell them that you are going to pick them up ta 000 time and if anything to no hesitate and give you a call.

I think if you stayed at the park and let them go off in their own direction and you went in yours (both having cell phones) would be okay, but I would be nervous letting a 14 & 15 year old going to a park by themselves. What would prevent them from meeting up with someone, driving off then coming back in time for you to pick them up? It would just make me nervous.

Is this a date or your two kids? That's a big difference. Six hours seems like too long, but as long as you are confident about the maturity of the kids and the safety of the park, I think it's OK.

In my opinion, it's fine. I'm 14 and I go to amusement parks all the time with a bunch of my friends. Our parents just drop us off and pick us up, and they're all fine with it.
It just depends on the amusement park. Like Disneyland, I think is O.K.

yes that should be fine. i would go to the movies when i was that age with friends without cellphones. your kids should be fine and they are plenty old enough to have a time alone with eachother. yes let them go to the amusement park w/ cell phones

Well, I'm no parent, but I see nothing wrong with this.

You won't be able to control them much longer--so you should start giving them a taste of responsibility and freedom. That way, they won't rebel against you, and they'll be ready for when they turn 18.

As long as you trust them, and you know they're mature enough to handle crowds and strangers, they'll be fine.

In today's world, I think 14 and 15 is too young to be alone with a bunch of strangers for that long. I'd prefer to take them, meeting up every couple of hours to check in. Maybe eat lunch together. You might be surprised to find that they like you being around, especially if you pay!!

Depends on their maturity. If they were more or less mature and could handle a small problem by themselves then I say why not. If all they do is cause trouble then no. Cell phones are a good idea. Just make sure you don't call them too much, it'll annoy them. Good luck
