Yes, It is so hard to find a good paying job and when you do find one the company is concerned about a healthy bottom line and not their workers. Locally, companys are still using temporary workers so they do not have to pay benefits.
Personally, I have to consider myself fortunate. I have been at my job 15 years. I make around $40,000.00 a year but it is still not enough. I have dipped into my 401K to cover some debt. I have at least $22000.00 in unsecured debt that I will pay off in the next 3 years thanks to CCC Indy and Prosper. I am convinced that the credit card companies are crooks and I plan to avoid using them as much as possible. I have usually worked part-time jobs to help and I will continue to work part-time until my debt is gone.

Asking the amount of debt is like asking a person in a car how fast they are going. If you don't know where they are and which direction they are headed, the answer doesn't really tell you anything.

What's important isn't debt, it's net worth. Net worth is assets minus debt.

Broke is when debt is greater than assets.

On the average, I probably have a lot more debt than the average high school senior, but I think I have more assets, too, so that's not bad.

I have about 14,000 in hospital bills due to not having insurance (great to be an American)
I just got a car loan for 24,000 and am currently racking up student loans.
Since I have no revolving accounts no one will give me a credit card. What a bunch of crap. Oh well, Americans overspend with credit cars anyways so I guess it is a blessing.
