Ruth the legend what stories do you hear about dimaggio
ruths last game he hit 3 hrs because some guy told him he sucked and then he walked away from the game he called his shot and he did all his work off of beers and hot dogs
jeter is just a leader
dimaggio was more hollywood with marylyn monroe
mantle was good but Lou Gehrig was better and probably the nicest yankee to ever play
whitey ford is a pitcher and pitchers pitch twice a week
Ruth all the way then lou gehrig becuase he was great on and off the field
dimaggio has the hit streak but no one ever considers him better than Ruth

Babe Ruth, hands down. The Yankees were a very mediocre team until the got Ruth from Boston. They came close to the World Series a few times, but basically were average to below-average. If Babe Ruth never went to the Yankees, they would have been just another team. The others you mentioned, all were great players, who won multiple championships, but without the Babe, there is no "House the Ruth Built", no 26 titles, and most of those guys never would have played for the Yankees.
Also, I am not sure, but I believe when Ruth hit his 136th career homer, he set a new record. That means each time he homered after that, he was extending his own record!! He outhomered whole teams. In 1927, when he hit 60, most teams did not even hit that, as it was the 1930s before guys started hitting a lot of them. He was, and remains the greatest player of all time.

this entire "actual Yankee" difficulty is fantastically stupid to me. yet i could choose it by somebody who's performed with the gang for an prolonged time and helped the gang grow to succeed or build in direction of fulfillment. different than that, I evaluate a participant a Yankee whilst they positioned on the uniform. it rather is, till they do no longer declare to be Yankees whilst they take the uniform off. (See Ed Whitson, Gary Sheffield, and so on.)

mickey mantle was the best player, he just underachieved due to his drinking and injuries. still a hall of famer who led his team to like 10 WS. imagine his #'s healthy. but if you want to go by stats, Ruth was the best, all those HR's and he pitched for 5 years. i dunno man its hard to compare players from different era's.
