In a flat rate tax system were everyone pays the same rate 13 to 15% would cover all the expenses that are currently taxes on the books if you make less than 250,000 you will have to pay 28 -25% 150,00 less 33-36% less than 100,000 50%. That is why I'm for a flat tax. OH before you scream that not the income tax, I'm not talking just the income tax, I'm talking total taxes.

Given that you live in a first world country, and were born into all the advantages that tax money provided in the form of security and social and physical infastructure the obvious answer is enough to maintain and improve that infastructure. That seems like a lot, and it is. But ask yourself...would you rather live in low tax country with less extensive social and physical infastructure? Certainly people who live in rural and even urban Mexico pay fairly low taxes, but look how they live. Even Mexicans with money still 'live in Mexico'. Further, Americans have been convinced that their country must spend 600 billion dollars a year that we know about for 'defense'. That costs because most of it is borrowed money...that's cost plus interest. Before we can determine how much should go for taxes, we have to decide at what level we want our country to exist...first world, or something less!

50 percent if the Dems are in control; 28 percent if the Repubs are, but you'll pay through the nose in local/state taxes and the roads/infrastructure will fall to pieces.
Sorry, no easy answer to this one.

i think a flat tax of 20% for everyone would be fair and equal...i am not rich and not in favor of taxing the rich for being rich...i think we all should pay our equal percentage of our salary...
