Oh you lucky dog! I've been down the Upper and Lower New so many times I can just picture you now. What are the water levels these days? I went down "Surprise" two years ago after a major rain and after 9 years of tackling it, it finally caught me and tossed me right out. Well.... not without me putting up a struggle first!
And Double Z! Oh man I love that rapid. I can't tell you just how cool it is to meet someone who paddles the New! You are indeed right. It is just stunning. The huge boulders of the gorge surrounding you with the amazing power of the water. I surely won't be there tomorrow...... but I'll see you there the week of labor day.... right around the beginning of Gauley season!
