i think roethlisberger is a great quarterback with one not-so-spetacular year. a 15-1 and 11-5 years with a super bowl ring, and he's regarded as 'bad'. i mean, one mediocre year and everything starts dissing him, saying he's a burned out quarterback.

if you got in a motorcycle accident mid-summer, missed training camp, got an emergency appedectomy, and a concussion mid-season along with the pressures of the super bowl champs, i think the odds are against you. but with bruce arians making adjustments to the playbook to big ben's benefit (tongue twister...), he'll do much better this year.

i'm a steelers fan that has been at big ben's side the whole time, even during his darkest games (raiders...) and i haven't walked out on him. anyways, he's only entering his 4th year, and if he keeps it up, he'll be playing for a long, long time with the steelers.

GO STEELERS!

Most football fans really don't know much about football. They see that a QB only throws the ball 13-15 times a game and don't realize the reason. The reason he only threw the ball that amount of times was that the team didn't need to take throw. On the flip side McNabb threw the ball all over the field last year and they piled up passing yardage and the team piled up loses. Only when Andy Reid starting calling a more balanced game did the eagles wins start to mount. Many give Gacia that credit...but it was just the amount of runs called. Running can wear down the defense. Passing doens't do that.

Big ben was injured most of last season they only came a few points of making the playoffs. I know the Steelers had an 8-8 record but they were like 6 pts of being 11-5. I just think he was over confident last year and knew the offense too well. He was making plays with his mind that his body couldn't make because of the injuries. Do you remember when he was winning games? It was because he was making the initial blitzer miss or breaking the tackle and then making a play downfield. Last year he couldn't do that. Now that he has gained his strength back he should be back to form. Add in the new offensive schemes and formations the new offensive coordinator that will inable him to show what he can do in a more wide open attack. Its not new to him either because he lit college football up all three years he started. Imagine, spreading the field with 4 WR's, having a mobile QB and running back as fast as Parker behind him. Its scary. Then being able to go to 3TE's with one lined split wide, with Krieder and Barlow or Davenport in the backfeild on certain short yardage plays. The versatillity of the offense should make it easier to score pts.

I'm not really so into football that I can give "performance" criticism, but I love Roethlisberger. I think that he took the things that happened to him last year very well, and he didn't whine when we told him he was wrong.
I love the Steelers, and I think that they may have a great year. I am a little leary going into this year without my coach!! But, I'm sure that we will have a great time getting to know our new one! I just hope he cusses ppl out like Cower did!
I think that "7" has had more time to heal and that he did a great job on Sunday night! I wished he would've been in longer, but we don't want him to get over-tired early either! I love him! (And I think he's pretty hott!)

I don't think he is going to go down as one of the greatest QB's ever. He is a pretty average QB. Look at the Super Bowl year, I mean it isn't like he carried his team to victory or anything. Come to think of it didn't he have the lowest QB rating ever in the history of the Super Bowl? Wasn't it like 24.2 or something. Anyway I think he is just ok, not great but not terrible. If you look at this era of QB's right now he isn't better then Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Donovan McNabb, Carson Palmer, Drew Brees, or even Brett Favre who is on his way down but four or five years ago was great. So he is ok not one of the greatest ever. I have to admit that I did make a prediction that I thought over the course of his career he would be more successful then the two guys drafted ahead of him (Eli Manning and Philip Rivers) and so far I have been correct and while I know Eli will never be any good I have to see I think Rivers might end up being pretty good too.

He's already broken records of the best that will probably stand for a long time, but he has shown to be more a game-manager and might not put up huge career stats and that is A-OK. We'll see though, Tomlin and Arians are ready to find out what he's got.
All you people out there are plain jealous because you don't have a team OR a quarterback.

Go Steelers!

He is about as great as Trent Dilfer. Steelers won games with running and defense in their championship year. Ben is mediocre at best. He can hand off well and throws safe short passes most of the time. He is a good qb in that he is accurate and makes few mistakes. A posession type signal caller. Hes not bad but definitely not great. More like a product of his offensive schemes.

So your going to put him in the same category as Sammy Baugh, Bart Starr,Terry Bradshaw Joe Montana, Dan Marino, Sonny Jurgenson, and Johnny Unitas? Those are the greatest quarterbacks of all time. He was alright during his first couple years but very inconsistent last year. I dont know if you watched football and seen those great quarterbacks play but really Roethlisberger does not compare to any of them,

what leads you to believe that? he has a lousy passer rating the only way he can be any good is with a great running game and defense to get him the ball on a short field, obviously your a steeler fan with high hopes for big ben but he will be a serviceable starter at best.

One of the greatest? Im not so sure of that. Yeah hes got a SB ring, but it was pretty much handed to him. Everyone and their momma wanted Jerome Bettis to win a ring in his last year in his home town so bad, no way the NFL and refs were not gonna let that happen. I mean just watch the game again, some of those calls were so blatantly bad, I dont see how they got away with it.
