I got baking clay today and am trying to think of things to make with it. I know magnets and picture frames..but I need other creative ideas. I don't have a lot of clay.

There are a million things to make with polymer clay (clay that bakes in a home oven) at my polymer clay "encyclopedia" website. Since you don't have much clay, you might want to make small things like miniatures, or jewelry like pendants or earrings, but you don't need a lot of clay to "cover" other things with clay often either.

Why don't you check out this page of my site to see a lot of the possibilities for things you could make, and techniques you could use to make them:
http://glassattic.com/polymer/contents.htm

(scrolll all the way down to browse, then when you see a page that interests you, click on its name from inside the alphabetical navigation bar on the left side of the page to go there)

You might also want to check out the Kids & BEGINNERS page for some suggestions of things to easier things to make in a number of polymer categories all on one page:

Diane B.

P.S. You might want to also read the BAKING page at the site *before* baking your clay because it can be easy to scorch or even burn polymer clay if the baking isn't done correctly (....also, untill you're sure you've got the baking part working right, don't bake a lot of things you've made right in the beginning. . . just do one or two to start, so if you mess up, you won't have destroyed them all).

How about some little animals to sit around as trinkets or give to friends. Maybe a box to sit on a dresser and hold a ring etc.

You can make a base for a candle. Make a shape that you like and place the candle in the middle. It's beautiful!

If you want to see how it looks like go to http://www.activities-for-kids.net/Pet_craft_ideas.html.
