I am always embarassed to call people on their cell, scared that they might be really busy or something. I like calling someone at home better.. Does anyone else feel that way?

Maybe they just want cells for emergency?

Yes, it is perfectly ok to call their cell; Unless the person specified that their cell phone is restricted to businesses-job related calls for example.

Cell phones are for the convenience of most people, and not a necessity. Some people do have limited calling plans; so next time you talk to them (on a landline phone or in person), ask them how they feel about receiving "personal" or "friendly" calls on their cell phone. Most people should have no qualms about telling you if their cell phone is for "emergencies" or "business" only.

I don't call anybody on a cell phone unless that is the only option or it's urgent. It's not that I'm embarrassed but because it always pis*ses me off when people hold their private conversations in public areas or while driving. I don't want to feel responsible if they rear end someone (even though they are the one responsible).

why would people have cell phones if they didn't want to be called?
