Jay Terser makes good inexpensive copies of some popular styles. I highly recommend electric for beginners unless you just have to have the acoustic sound. I'd suggest finding a used guitar. You'll get more for the money, but be sure to try out a few and make sure that the one you pick stays in tune and sounds right when playing an open E chord and the same chord barred at the fifth fret. If it's not right, you may be able to get the store to set the intonation for you. It is very frustrating to play an instrument that is out of tune.

Behringer, Washburn, and mostly some not well known kind of brands are cheap but work very well.... and sometimes expensive brands are on sale... like fender and gisbon ( i have a fender squier strat and i got it on sale for $150 and it came with a whole bunch of stuff for beginners)

I just learned of a guitar made by Behringer that includes computer software, a USB port for connecting to a computer, and is VERY inexpensive - abour $130. I own some VERY nice guitars, but I'm thinking about checking into this one because of the educational software. I don't usually recommend guitars, but this is one to consider.

You could buy one from a hock shop, thats where I got my first guitar. I think it was around 100$. I would recommend that you get an acoustic first that way you dont have to spend money on an amp and other equipment.

Electric?

Samick Malibu

Seriously, I read the reviews for this thing and they are amazing. So, I got one, and it sounds sooo awesome. It was only 200 for me (without the amp) and some compare the sound of it to expensive Fenders.

But, if it is an acoustic, i can't help ya...sorry!

Hope I helped!
