What the Boston Celtics did was trade their entire future away in one big swoop. Danny Ainge was feeling the pressure to make something happen after it was obvious, that they tanked to get the number one or two pick. Well, i guess both Mchale and Ainge decided to save their butt in one big swoop too. Minnesota got the better of the deal getting some real nice talent and looking to the future. The Celtics got 3 veterans, two in their 30's and one soon to be next year. They have no role players. None! Rajon Rondo, the point guard, is not too bad, but not enough experience. They need a center, and some point guard help bad. If one of those guys goes down, the trade looks like a disaster, cause the team will sink with no bench help. Ray Allen had surgery on his tendon, and Pierce is injury prone, leaving Garnett possibly to carry another bad team with bad management once again. I think Ainge should have stayed put and put up with the youth. This season can be a good 48 win season, maybe more and a playoff berth, or it can backfire and they barely squeek in or not make it at all, making Ainge a basket case once again!

i dont think they will get a ring. They got three superstars who were all on the worst teams in the nba. So how good are they? Allen has bad legs as it is. Once they resign KG they will never get rid of that contract. Cant get rid of Pierce. And outside of KG they have no defense.
They also have no bench and no roleplayers and few young players. Those three stars gonna get tired and need a break at some point in the season. THey also have three go to guys. How do they know who to go to? sounds simple but in the past teams have shown that this can lead to confusion on the court. Also Pierce LOVES to score, and LOVES to dribble around. Can anyone here honestly say he wants to share? im a huge allen fan but he will get destroyed on the defensive side, especially in the east.

Not bringing in Brevin Knight is also a huge mistake imo. All these scorers, but who is gonna dish the ball and control the flow of the offense? If they got someone like eric snow at pg that would be a great move. Financially they had to make these moves. They lost a lot of TV time and they wernt selling tickets. So i understand why the made the big moves even though i dont think it will get them a ring.

Clearly the front starting three are set. The Real test is the guard position. As I understand it, theres a good possibility that point guard may end up being a rookie. No matter the quality of your front line, it's who controls the ball as you enter a play that determines the quality of result. Another problem is whats left of the bench that was decimated by the trade for Garnett.Look for the Celtics to struggle early as they piece together the new look Celtics. If, and thats a big if considering the budget restraints this team is under, they are able to solve the guard problem, look for this team to become a player in the East come Xmas...look for this team to finish 2nd behind the Nets in the division, but be scary good come playoff time.

im getting tired of people saying thay have a shot at winning the championship. THEY DONT. they have a shot at making the second round in the playoffs and thats probably about it. i mean its great they got allen and garnett to go along with pierce. but its not enough , they need a supporting cast which they dont have and cant really afford. if those three where younger (im talking about 25, 26, 27 years old) my opinion would probably be a little different seeing as they could play more minutes at that age....but even then still i dont think they would win the championship. however they will be doing considerably better which is great news for boston. seeing as they probably just want to see their team win some games for once.

They definitely put this team together to win NOW. The current Celtic team has a contender window of about 3 years. If they don't win w/in the neat 3 years, it will all be downhill, no a free fall to the bottom of the NBA.

To be fair, Ainge really just gave up 1 proven quality player in Jefferson to acquire KG & he virtually got Allen by giving up misfits. For that alone, he should be the early favorite for NBA Executive of the Year.

If they could convince several veterans (e.g. PJ Brown) to sign w/ them for bargain prices for the chance to win, they could definitely make noise in the playoffs.

i think of they get to the 2nd around. If the three jell they might get to the eastern Finals, yet i don't see them with adequate intensity to get to the NBA Finals. 3 maximum obligatory gamers all at their best or in simple terms previous, that's uncertain they'll all stay healthful all season. They stand a extra acceptable danger to get to the East Finals, in the event that they get Miller to characteristic set off off the bench and if Rondo developes into an NBA starter. Too many maybes and ifs for this year.

I think the Celtics have done good for themselves in the picking up of Kevin Garnett . I hope he will be the worth the cost of the loss of a few players on their behalf.

3 years too late. they should have made trades when they let walker go. They are going to make the playoffs, but they don't have time to create a foundation on 3 30+ players and no support. the move puts them in 2nd or 3rd round, but without a decent bench, the big three are going to have to play extra hard. If they win a championship in the next five years: Best off-season since Red was pullin' moves as a GM back in the day.

If they DON'T: Horrible off-season. They traded away their next decade of talent.
