I live in the Philippines and here, we are so tolerant of the gays and lesbians. I don't have anything against them but I've always wondered about that question because we Filipinos are so proud of our religion.
My mother told me that it's not for a person to judge others, that's God's job. I'm just wondering if anyone else shares the same opinion.

We are not supposed to judge other people themselves.

Anyone who does this is calling into question other's dignity as human beings, thereby equating one's sins with the sinner.

We are supposed to hate the sin, but love the sinner.

We love the sinner by extending to them the same dignity as human beings we wish to receive from others. Put simply, we must accept people the way they are.

In accepting one's human dignity, we are NOT accepting one's sins. Sins are merely tolerated with compassion.

GENUINE Christian compassion entails the Instruction of the Ignorant and the Admonishment of the Sinner.

While we should never question one's dignity as a human being, we MUST jduge one another's behavior. We can't Instruct the Ignorant or Admonish the Sinner without making judgements on one's behavior.

We can question one's behavior without questioning their dignity as human beings. We must.

Judging the individual is indeed God's job, but that does not mean we can't judge a person's behavior.

+ Catholic Nations +

I don't think we should describe countries as Christian or non-Christian.

Reasons:
- Christianity transcends nationality.
- Is everyone a Christian in a Christian country? Probably not.
- Does the Christian country only have laws based on Christianity? Probably not.
- I believe in freedom of religion. There would not be freedom of religion in a Christian country.

Can you name one country that is truly Christian (not counting Vatican City)?

+ Homosexuality +

Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.

The Catholic Church believes there is nothing sinful about being homosexual. But homosexuals like all unmarried people are called to celibacy.

The Church specifically says that homosexuals "must be accepted with respect, compassion, and sensitivity. Every sign of unjust discrimination in their regard should be avoided."

Here is the text of the document, On the Pastoral Care of Homosexual Persons (1986): http://www.newadvent.org/library/docs_df86ho.htm

I do. As they say, "hate the sin, but love the sinner." It's not anyone's place to judge besides God's. Let Him deal with it. In the meantime, be as accepting, patient, and Christ-like as possible--and judge not lest ye be judged.
