The answer to your question is yes and no. Yes, the hair and nails continue to grow after you die, however for a VERY minimal amount of time. Just like anything in your body that grows, such as bone, muscle, hair, and nails, it needs nutrition. If blood is no longer moving, it can no longer be provided, so the hair and nails may grow, but their growth would quickly cease, making the overall growth after death very minimal.
After death, your body begins to dry, and lose moisture, especially the skin. When moisture in the skin decreases, the skin "deflates" and recedes, exposing hair and nail that would normally be covered by skin. Even if the deceased had a clean shave before death, it would soon appear as though he hadn't shaved in at least a day.
Overall the myth that your hair, nails, and also ears, and nose would continue to grow after death is simply a misconception.
