We are on a ball spinning through space and we have no definite idea how we got here, does anyone else find that fascinating?

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

We are beings that evolved from lower life forms. Unless we were "planted" here by some thing more sophisticated. People have been wondering that for a long time whenever humans could relax after harvests, hunting at campfires around the world. Different creation myths have arisen. Im also kind of struck by why are we on a planet that is exactly the correct distance from the Sun,has the right atmopheric conditions for life & the right temperture. Is that a coincidence ? I don't know exactly.

I totally agree. If you follow a belife you will believe different things but How did we get here? I don't think anybody will find out unless the last people on earth hit a wall that reads "Game Over" then i have no idea.

This is very fascinating to me. Spiritually, I don't think there is any answer as to why we exist. In other words, life isn't having a purpose but finding one. Biologically, we are a result of chemical reactions and evolution. Also, I think our purpose here is to just live and enjoy life, but we have forgotten how to do that in our fast-paced, rush-rush society.

But we all have ideas and notions and concepts for our existence. That is fascinating. We exist because everything else does, whatever you believe everything else is, it is true, it is its self, no matter all falsehoods in your self.

The Will is positive, the Judgment is negative.

Indeed, I think about it for most of the day. It makes me feel good that I have the ability to know that I don't know.
