Depends on the lady. When you get to know her well enough, you will know whether she likes and appreciates flowers.

Personally, I love it when a man brings me flowers. Especially when they aren't expected - not a special occasion or anything.

My husband finally got my attention after about six months of dating when he sent me flowers at work. That's when I realized he was serious. I love flowers! And now, he brings our daughter flowers when he comes home from work every once in a while. Upping the ante for any future boyfriend! :-)

Now, as a side note, I tell my husband...absolutely, do not dare, 100% don't send me flowers on Valentine's Day. I think it is asinine and ridiculous that the floral industry sells flowers for $120 that three days ago and tomorrow will only cost you 30 bucks. It is so over commercialized that it has lost any true meaning. I tell him absolutely, postivitely, do not send me flowers on VD.

We do when it is chosen carefully and personally and not as a token or default gift. If you know that your romantic prospect truly prefers another item (like a book or a picnic or even a toolset), it's better to go with the preferred item.

For example, I love purple. I would rather receive purple irises or purple bouquet than the cliched red roses.

Some women don't like cut flowers but prefer potted plants so that the blooms can live on.

Finally, I know that in the end I love knowing someone cared enough about me to send me flowers, cliche or not. They took the time and often took the expense to send them to me.

Well it depends on the person. I myself like flowers. Most girls are really happy when guys give them flowers. I even seen some tomboys liking flowers because they think its sweet. However you can all so buy stuff like cholate, teddy bears holding a heart that says i love you,, or anything. If she is the kind that wouldn't like those kinda stuff then thats ok.

Not all. Depends on the type of woman. Myself! I like a Gift from the heart, that means you know me and took your time thinking about me the whole time you search for my flowers.

Oh yes! I really like flowers for a gift. I mean I have only gotten them once from my boyfriend, and that was on valentines day on our first date. But it was really nice. I hope he does it again!

I think flowers are a waste of time & money, i'd rather prefer someone to buy me something that stays longer than flowers, something that can remind me of the occasion, place, emotion, person or a reason.
my bf buys me flowers all the time, he sends me flowers on our anniversaries, he sends flowers to my office, it sure does feel especial, but here in dubai, they are so bludie expensive, besides i cant keep these flowers with me all the time. i'd like to receive a thing that i can keep it with me forever.

I have finally manged to convince my bf subtly to not buy me flowers anymore, i feel so bad throwing them in the dustbin after 2 days. (such a waste of money) all the especial feeling i got when receiving them goes down the drain while throwing them. it washes away the especial feeling it gives initially.
i would advise you to buy a present that stays much longer than flowers. you can always replace flowers with a bottle of wine & chocolates. IDEAL!

P.S. i can expect flowers from aquaintances, but not from those who are close to me and know my taste.
