It would be nice. But Yahoo doesn't make any money off of me, so I doubt if I get anything back of monetary value. ; )
They're not going to make each point worth a dollar, because let's face it, that would be expensive. But maybe a penny per point. In your case, you could donate about $650. At 1 penny a point, it would be affordable for Yahoo and create lots of good will among the public and users.

I think I will come and visit you in Canada!!! Well I think your idea is totally great, it seems such a waste to be collecting these points, and what will we ever do with them, it's not as though Yahoo are going to give us anything. I don't really care about the points, I'm here because I want to be, and a spin off is I try to help people. Good idea though.

I have only a little over 1600 points myself. I think Yahoo might make money off of us for a profit and the main point of making a profit is to not lose money. Yahoo is nothing if not capatilist, and they're all for making money. Giving it to charity would lower their profits.

that sounds like a very commendable idea! I'd donate to an LGBT organization, cancer research, the Humane Society....unfortunately, I seriously doubt Yahoo would give up any money like that. a shame, really!

It would be great if Yahoo would do something like this to help those in need, but as a business their main objective is profit. In this neoliberal age, they lay off unnecessary workers while their profit surges, they won't like the idea of giving away some of their profits.

You're all very cynical, aren't you?
Big companies get tax breaks for donating to charities.
It's a cool idea. Don't know how you would go about suggesting it to Yahoo though. I can't imagine they read all the Q&A's.

Don't expect Yahoo!, a 6 billion total revenue (1 billion yearly revenue) Fortune 500 company to do something like that.

That would be lovely. We could actually *do* something with these rather than just letting them go to waste....well, they don't actually go to waste, they're just sitting here in point limbo.
Yahoo could certainly afford to do so and it would be a wonderful gesture to the community at large.
Then we could start opver and make more points for our favourite charities. Wonderful idea, my Darling!
