A married guy asked me a question when we were hanging out at the pub. the question was if you were married (i am not married just have a partner) and went to town had a few drinks, maybe a dance and a good laugh would you be happy going home alone? Why do you think he would ask me a question like that? It seems confusing to me? Hence asking for others opinions.

Sounds like he is having problems at home, and she thinks he is out cheating and he was trying to convince her he flirts, but comes home....and he probably had a little to much to drink and it was on his mind so he had to talk to somebody...and there you were LOL

Some people ask weird questions(check out some on Yahoo Answers).
He might have been testing you...to see if you were married and wanted to cheat(as he is married and wants to cheat)

he wants to see if you'd go home with another man or not? maybe him ! or trying to see if you would cheat on your man! Thats how i'd take it, cause if you went out and you was a married woman after doing all the fun stuff ,wouldn't you still go home to your man? I would of said yeah i'd go home to my honey ! why do you ask? so ask him why such a dumb question ?
