There is a real Blair Witch story in Maryland which the concept of the film was based. The story of the three campers were not true

as I recall, the witch project was the brain child of 2 college students studing film

It seems to be that they were not considered to be "smart" enough or something to that effect and either left by mutual agreement of flunked out. I don't remember exactly what happened.

anyway the wrote the screen play, and made a smash hit. They got all kinds of honors it seems (alumni) from the college or university they attended.

the town it was filmed in, so far as I know was not the town that the fans invaded and trampled.

never saw the thing, in fact, I don't watch a lot of movies or tv okay, I watch stargate reruns

No it wasn't. They tried to promote it like it was but then had the actors appear on some talk shows a couple of weeks later.

lol, no! But actually, when It first came out, I won movie tickets to see the preview. We were scared to **** because It was still rumored to be true!
