If both of them are at their peak, I'd pick Michael, he's a steals leader and definitely would do anything to win. (He shoots it so well in the play-offs when winning is all that matters, erase those regular season crap Jordan is much more tougher in the play-offs and always seem to elevate his game come crunch time.)

BOTH IN THEIR PRIME
Michael Jordan is much faster than Larry Bird so Jordan will score more in the paint but Bird is just an amazing shooter.
It would really depend on what the parameters of the game that Jordan and Bird play.
like someone said, in H-O-R-S-E Bird will win yet, in a game of one-on-one Jordan will win, but each shot will be contested. Bird will get many open looks and hit many jumpers. Also Bird might also win if he was hot at the three point line. Bird might also win if in the key is 1-point, mid range in 2-points and 3-pointers are the normal points.

Right, that would be a game because these two guys were very competitive and would do everything to win. I think though that MJ would win in a one-on-one contest. Why? Well, Jordan just happens to be the greatest one-on-one player of all time. Offensively, he's got a thousand moves that would surely catch Bird flat on his feet. Once Jordan posts Bird up and puts up his fadeaway jumper, there's not much Bird can do. Of course, Bird himself was an offensive force and one of the best shooters the game has ever seen, but his offensive repertoire wasn't as deep as that of Michael. Likewise, he wasn't athletically gifted. He could barely jump and lacked quickness and speed, which would spell the difference in a one-on-one game. On the defensive side, we all know that Jordan was a perennial Defensive First Teamer and one of the best defensive players of all time. Bird was a decent defender too. But because of his physical limitations, he relied more on smarts and game savvy, which, in this case, isn't enough to stop an equally smart player like Jordan.

Hey "SCORE1952"......here's your "underrated" perimiter defender....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G13SYgweS4Y&mode=related&search=
Do not EVER underestimate Larry Bird. He may not be the most athletic player ever, but he was one of the smartest. Just ask Isiah Thomas.
And Jordan was OVERRATED as a defender, especially in the 90's, after he had gotten older and lost a step or two (as shown in this video). But the league kept hyping him as this great stopper, and gave him his undeserved all-defensive team awards.
And Bird was "overrated" when compared to Magic or Jordan? That's bull! Did Jordan lead his college team ( who was way more talented than Bird's was) to a perfect record and the NCAA title game?
Under Jordan's leadership, he couldn't even get them into the final four!
And Jordan couldn't even lead the Bulls over the .500 mark, until his 4th season. Bird instantly transformed the Celtics into one of the leagues best teams his rookie year.
I thought you knew basketball but evidently you don't! Magic had a better shot selection and as much range as Bird? Give me a break! Magic didn't develop an outside shot until later in his career, and he NEVER had the deadly accuracy of Bird! That's a fact.
Anyways, Jordan is probably the better one on one player, due to his quickness and ability to take it to the hoop. But Bird has at least a 3 inch height advantage over Jordan, and is a much better ouside shooter.
If it's a "make it and take it", Jordan better hope he doesn't miss, because Bird will make him pay dearly!
For all of you doubters:

I think MJ would take Larry any day. I'm not just saying that because I like MJ better but I honestly think his all around game in better than Larry's. I think Michael is more athletic, powerful, and skilled. Enough said...
