Remebering that 56Kb/s speed is actually only 48Kb/s at its fastest then it would take you
500000000/48000 = 10417 seconds (rounded up)
10417/60 = 174 min (rounded up)
174/60 = 3 hours (rounded up)
Now those numbers are for the fastest connection possible and no speed drops at all, so figure more like 5 hours.

Ask a person that has a High Speed Internet connection to download the file for you. In the old days, if you had a Dialup connection, it was considered as DSL or Cable since programs and files were smaller and had a 56k connection.

Base on my experience, it would take 3-5 minutes to download a 1mb file...so more or less it would take you 300-500 minutes(5-8 hrs.) or more to download a 500mb file...

I would not even consider downloading such a large file on 56K,even on broadband it would take a while.there must be a better way to get it.have you asked friends who have hi speed internet to do it for you?
