I used to live in Malaysia, so I know how humid your temp can be over in the Philippines! Normal antiperspirant deoderants should take care of things, but I think it would be best for your friend to visit the doctor. Sometimes, problems with your hormones or sweat glands can cause excessive sweating that is beyond what deoderants can handle. The doctor may prescribe some treatments to help your friend have less perspiration, whether it be pills or even botox shots to reduce the sweating.
Diet also plays a role. If your friend eats lots of spicy foods, this might cause the extra sweat. I know how we Asians love spicy foods, but if it's causing a problem for your friend, he might want to consider changing his diet. Speak to the doctor on this, they might also recommend some changes in diet to help control the sweating.
I'm guessing your friend probably smells from all that sweating. He might want to look into how often he showers--hopefully more than once a day at least! Usually, sweat alone does not stink. But with bacteria growth over several hours, odor tends to develop. Wearing fresh, clean clothes daily helps, too. I used to shower three times a day (morning, midday after school, nighttime before bed) because I walked a few miles to and from school in the tropical heat. I also could not afford air conditioning for a while and had to rely on the good ol' ceiling fan, so showering was the best way to stay clean and fresh. I used antibacterial soap to help keep the bacteria on the skin down. I would also change my clothes after walking around so I wouldn't smell like stale sweat. Seven years of sticking to that ritual seemed to work, perhaps your friend might want to try it.
Good luck to your friend in solving his sweat problem!

Right Guard sport extreme spray (the US made kind).
If he has hyperhidrosis (a condition wherein sweat pores secrete excessive amounts of sweat without stimulating them), then tell him that no deodorant/anti-perspirant would help. He'd just have to live with it.

A natural remedy is to cut a lemon in half and apply underarm every 3 or 4 hours. I have used it but got lazy and using bought one now. But lemon does work extremely well.

I heard "tawas" really works...but if you want a commercial brand, try Milcu powder...it's not very popular but it actually won the "best body deodorant" in October 2005 in Manila during the National Product Quality Excellence Awards Night.
