Gays can't marry because they can't reproduce when having sex.
Oh, but we can use birth control or have it at certain times of the month...

[response to answer] I didn't mean that the religion doesn't believe in birth control. I just meant that many Catholics do not follow the beliefs of their religion and use birth control anyway.

And I don't mean all Catholics. Just the ones who hate gays.

I apologize to offend those of the Catholic faith. I, too, am Catholic, though I do not attend to my religion much. I will generalize more and state that some people of most religions are hypocritical.

I have noticed that many people say that they're Catholic just because the are realted to one that's in their family for example a parent. If you are married and you do not use birth control it doesn't matter (guy-girl relationships). And if you are not married and are having sex on a regular basis it is wrong. When we as Catholics go to confesion to cleanse our sins after we recieve communion we must try as hard as we can not to commit the sin again, of course it happens especially when you do it and you don't realize it. But having sex on the level that you know what you are doing and you keep doing it although you have gone to confession for it, is very wrong. And yes many of us Catholics are very hypocritical but then again we are only people.

True. But the Catholics don't have the market cornered on hypocrisy.
Fundamentalists say that God hates homosexuality because of the bible, but they ignore the scripture that talks about not eating shellfish, or pork, or the passages about stoning to death any woman caught messing around. Hypocrites.
And that they can't reproduce isn't the only reason the Catholic church won't marry gay couples: they have centuries of "tradition" to follow. And that tradition doesn't allow gay marriages.
I'm a gay Catholic and I'm doing my best to change that ... and I don't agree with it... and I do agree that it's hypocritical -- I just wanted to give you a little more information. :)

If by "birth control" you mean the rhythm method, that's not much of a birth control method, although it is sanctioned by the Catholic Church.
As for the rest of it, I don't think that the gay thing is exclusively a hypocrtitical Catholic thing, I think that almost all Christian denominations teach this, and some Jewish ones, and some Muslim ones, and others around the world.
So whatcha picking on Catholics for? Just curious, although it's always interesting to watch one Christian faction attacking another.

Homosexual sex is sinful because it violates the Christian Virtue of Chastity as well as Natural Law.
Natural Law: Nature dictates that sex is necessary for procreation and that, given the differences in biology between a man and a woman, both are needed for the sex act to result in procreation.
Sex acts between same-sex couples are contrary to the natural law because one's "plumbing" is meant to work properly only with the "plumbing" of the opposite sex.
The Virtue of Chastity: This pertains to, among other things, remaining celibate outside the marital union. Sex is meant only to take place within the bonds of marriage, not outside it.
The Virtue of Chastity and Natural Law dictate sexual morality. This is why homosexual sex is considered immoral and why same-sex couples cannot wed.
Catholics are not supposed to use any forms of artificial birth control. Sex is always supposed to remain open to the possibility of new life.
That does not mean couples cannot monitor their fertile cycles, so that they can know when they are most fertile and when they are least fertile.
It's not wrong for a married couple to use Natural Family Planning as a means of influencing when a couple conceives.
What you have to understand is that Sex is Sacred; meant only to be shared between a man and a woman bonded via the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. Indeed, the sex act is the consummation of the Marital Bond.
Sex outside of marriage is a sacrilege; an empty shell of it's full significance; a "cheap thrill".
