i take them every 2 weeks b/c i have crohns disease and my body does not absorb it on its own.
if the levels get too low you can have fatigue, paleness, nausea, numbness in your lower extrimities...etc.
it also helps w/ increasing your metabolism
the needles are very very small and it is a sub q injection so i give it to myself in my stomach... it does not hurt at all...
when you take the pill form your body only absorbs 2% of the vitamin... when given in an injection form your body absorbs over 75% of it

I was given B12 injections when I was pregnant because B12 helps to alleviate nausea (i.e., morning sickness). To this day, I always keep B12 in the house in tablet form for bouts of stomach flu, etc.
BTW, I would recommend taking a B-complex supplement versus the shot...the shots HURT like nobody's business!!

Vitamin B12 helps maintain healthy nerve cells and red blood cells [1-4]. It is also needed to help make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Vitamin B12 is also called cobalamin because it contains the metal cobalt [1-4].

Your right, it is a common thing to take. Although, I suggest you try a B-100 pill every day. Those work well too.

One of my best friends had the shots. They hurt like a mofo. Try and take supplements orally first.
