We regularly receive mail for 5+ people who have our address (presumably from long long ago), but do not live here. About 30% of the incoming mail is addressed to these people and it's very annoying. How do we get the post office to stop spamming us with other peoples' crap??

Mark it "return to sender, not at this address" and put it back in the mailbox. It will eventually make it back to the person who mailed it, who will then update their records. The Post Office is not to blame, they can only deliver to the address on the envelope, it's the people who are mailing the stuff that need to be contacted.

It's pretty much up to the mail carrier to filter that and forward it. Maybe you can talk to him personally.

BTW, I used to get mail delivered to my house which was addressed to the people who owned it 6 years before WE bought it. Sometimes, the address would be wrong and it would still come to us. That is, it was addressed to a different number, and to people who hadn't lived there in many years and it would still get delivered!

Wad the mail up and put a note on it and say they don't live here any more.. Drop it in the service box for the man to pick it up...

It's easy. Just let the PO know they don't live there anymore. Cross out the person's name on the evelope & write on it: RETURN TO SENDER - PERSON UNKNOWN & give it to the mail carrier.

return to sender, addressee unknown. No postage necessary. Also go down and talk to them about how much you are receiving, also speak to the carrier , asking him to stop.

Mark it "Refused" -Not at this address, and mail it back. Sender's problem, not yours.
