My name is Thoren (Pronounced Thor-in) and i think it's a dumb name. Would any of you name your kids Thoren? My father got it from J.R.R Toliken's "The Hobbit", except he replaced the I with an E. Is this a dumb name?

Are you aware that JRR Tolkien "lifted" quite a few things from various mythologies?

So, basically, you are named after Thor.

And THAT is awesome.

I think it's a cute name. How could a name be dumb anyways? It's all personal preference. If you don't like it you have the option of changing it legally or having people call you by a different name. My name is Sabrina and for a long time I hated my name. because everyone always associates me with being a 'witch'. My mother named me after a character from Charlie's Angels (which is much cooler than being named after a witch). I've never heard of the name Thoren but I think it's awesome and unique. It's good to have names that stand out. :)

I am a huge fan of the name Soren, so I think Thoren has a nice sound. I don't like madeup names at all, but this comes from well-known literature, so I can make an exception. I definitely wouldn't call your name dumb. Different, but not dumb.

When you give your kid a dumb name, it makes their whole life harder. From the playground to the job market, they're going to run into problems. Sorry Thoren, you might consider using a nick name like Thomas (I'm assuming you are a male).

Are you a boy or girl? I suppose I can see this name on either sex, but I like it more for a boy. I do prefer Thoren over the Thorin spelling.

It's unique. At least your name is 4 real like the new zealand baby or Amnesia like some parents on a baby name website wanted to name their kid. Or some common name like John. In grade school There was another girl with my name (Erica) and The teacher had to give us a number. I was Erica #2..very sad. I also hated my name, its too common!!

It's unique and what your father wanted to name you. I actually really like it and you'll probably never bump into anyone else with the same name which is a good thing! I'm over the common, trendy, overly-used names these days. I think it's beautiful!

I think it's an awesome name!! It's very strong. I wouldn't change it if it was mine.
I had to grow up with an unusual name also, but mine is a lot harder to pronounce. I started to like it a whole lot better as I got older and met more people with "common" names.

I think it's pretty awesome that your name iz original. It's not a bad name at all & i like it. You have to own it & rock that **** man! It's actually a total rocker name. Thor is the Greek God of Thunder too. That's pretty gnarley. It's not like you got a total pussy name like Hayden or Bailey.
