You should not introduce anything new to the baby yet especially if ur breastfeeding. You can turn him off of breast milk if u try to give him cereal. And if ur done breastfeeding than cereal would be ok at 4-5 months. Otherwise everything i have read says NO on cereal for breastfed babies until done breastfeeding. And he will always be hungry thats just the way they are at first.

No, a baby needs to be at least 4 months, preferable 6 months old, before giving them cereal. When it's introduced it should be by spoon, never in a bottle. The only time it's okay to start earlier than this is if the baby has acid reflux and a doctor says too. The only thing a baby needs for 6 months is breastmilk and/or formula. If a baby needs more milk, they will nurse more often and longer which will bring in more milk. many women will say that they gave their young baby cereal in a bottle before 4-6 months, but it's against all advice from doctors, nutrionists, cereal manufactures, and development specialists such as myself. It's exciting to offer foods to a baby, I was really excited when doing so with my daughter, but it's in the child;s best interest to wait.

Don't feed him cereal yet. You should wait atleast 4 months, better to wait 6 months -- they can't really maunever the food until then. Don't put the cereal in the bottle either, atleast that's what my doctor told me. If he's gaining weight he's getting enough to eat. He is becoming more active and interested in the world so may not really be hungry...just bored. But if he's gaining weight and the doc said he's doing good try entertaining him with something else.

No, I would not give an 8 week old cereal unless recommended
from a Ped. There is no reason to give it. He is probably cluster feeding and having a growth spurt.

He will probably calm down and stop nursing so much as he gets better at it, just give him time.

You can get a sling to make things easier on yourself, but he won't be this little forever, so just sit back and enjoy him.

As for the question, I never gave my son cereal. It's empty calories and it can cause alot of issues for breastfed babies.

Just take it one day at a time, before you know it, he will be walking and talking and you will be missing these days!

Never, ever give your baby any solids before six months of age, unless your doctor recommends it for reflux or some other serious health reason. Just keep breastfeeding, your milk is enough for him. Check out this link, the Q & A should help you out.

I think it is too early to give the baby cereal. If you think he is not getting enough from breast feeding you should talked to the doctor about give him formula in addition to breast feeding.
