The first grade test was a paper with a picture of a clown holding a bunch of balloons. Each balloon had a color written inside. I didn't know the colors or how to write my name and my Mother was angry so I had to practice and retake the test. That was in the late 1950's. I passed the second time.

Really?? We didn't have to take a test. We didn't even have to have already gone through Kindergarten first.

We never had to take that test in the 50's.......we didn't even have kindergarden.

i don't recall ever having to take a test. i don't think any of my kids did either.
