Thats not dry skin it is actully a layer of something that protects the skin while it is in our womb from all the water in us. I have a 14 day old and he has the same problem esp on his hands and feet. No lotion will cure it, it will just all go away very soon. Usually 2-3 weeks.

I like aveeno lotion it works relly good. although dry skin is normal hes only 10 days old. Babys have there own natural oils and stuff. So u might be drying him up by whatever soap or body wash ur bathing him in. thats why they say to just sponge bathe them for the first two weeks. Babys skin is VERY sensitive.

You can use baby lotion on him, I would trust Johnson's, some people really like Aveeno. Also, if you've started bathing him, don't bathe him too often, only once or twice a week, and make sure the water's not too warm. The rest of the time just wash him off with a warm washcloth. Congrats! Hope this helps~

Is it all over? Certain areas? Our daughter had dry skin also.
I used the baby lotion. Cool baths instead of warm.

Congratulations on your baby. Hope your getting some
rest.

I struggled with dry skin with all four of my baby's. If it's whole body, you need to use a sensitive baby lotion. But if your baby has dry patches (eczema spots) like my babies struggled with - my Dr. prescribed Elidel. It was the only thing that helped.

Baby oil in his bath. My doctor always told me not to use lotion the first couple of weeks because it can really clog there pores and they can get baby acne. Lots of people look at me like I am crazy when I tell them this, but I didn't and my babies had great skin. So just some baby oil in his bath will work well. Congrats on your little one!

My son had dry skin and I just put vaseline on the dry spots and it healed up after only 2 applications.

You should get a really light mosturizer. I used Johnson and Johnson baby lotion with aloe. Apply all over the body. Avoid the eye area. You shouldn't start applying when your baby is that young. I;m a dad not a mom but have experience.

Don't they have baby lotion? Like for sensitive skin? If it gets worse, check it out with a doctor.
