This is actually a good question.
There's two possibilities here...
1) Only 10% of the time is it possible to ovulate twice in a month. So it's not a common occurence.
2) While your body may not ovulate twice, it may attempt ovulation more than once in a cycle. What this means is... that your body can go through all the motions...fertile cm, ovulation pain, matured follicle, LH surge...but NOT actually ovulate--due to stress, illness, travelling, etc. And then go through those same motions and actually ovulate with the second attempt. This one is a little more common than actually ovulating twice.
Both of these situations give women a second chance at conception within the same cycle. Pretty cool huh!
Great question and good luck!

Hi There : )
Indeed yes you can but it is more common for women between 37-50 and it is ever so rare that women younger than their late 30's experience it. Although It can happen. This Happens because women can have a reaction to a birth control or even a tetnis shot, their is no name for this yet, as in womens health mag pusblished last year said that studies in early of 2005 proved that 30% of women between 37-50 ovulated more than once a month. Currently researchers and technoligst along with estrogentologist, in womens health are comming up with more details as of why this happens. In most of the womens cases in 2005, it was because of some new birth control or smoking to much and even a tetnis shot, or a hormonal imbalance.

Yes, and it can result in fraternal twins. If this does happen, it usually happens within 24 hours of the first ovulation. When you ovulate progesterone is created which keeps the uterun lining in tact, as well as sends a signal out to the other ovary to not ovulate. Sometimes the other ovary will release an egg anyways.

Yes, it was published again last year but I believe originally published 3-4 years ago. Docs had no idea until treating women for infertility (where they did an ultrasound daily) that this was possible. It is likely to be a small percentage, but not rare. See a link below that gives you more information, but it is summarized.

Yes you can, if you have certain hormonal imbalances which affect your ovulation. Its rare but it can happen.
I suggest you call the nurse at your doctor's office for more information..
Good luck!
