Unless changes are made on the congressional level, nothing will change. We could have the most charismatic presidential candidate ever, and with the corrupt representation that we have on the hill, it really won't make a difference at all.
Time to vote out ALL of the old and get some new blood. Blood that will not sell us out like the old blood has.
TERM LIMITS. :)

The last time I wanted to actually vote for someone, I was in High school. I have always voted for the lesser of two evils.
So far there seems to be more of the same.
I see some possibility in Gulianni, he showed some balls during 9/11 and he has charisma, I am not thrilled with his personal life, but his leadership qualities seem to be quite strong. And unlike the others he seems less abrasive and cast far fewer aspersions than the others.
But I am still not convinced. I have a wait to see attitude. There are still 6 months before the CA primary.
So as for now all we can do is hope and pray.
- God Bless

Both parties are sell outs to the corporate interests and both are disgusting. The only thing left to do is vote Green, Libertarian or Independent (not Bloomberg). Actually, the country is less polarized because more than 70% agree that the Iraq war was wrong and we should get out. and, about 55% now believe that Bush and Cheney should be impeached. It seems that Bush really is the uniter afterall in that we 70% of Americans are united in wanted to see the U.S out of Iraq, and over half of us want Bush and Cheney out of office.

Surely you jest. Although Bush has been great for wall street and illegal aliens he has been the worst.... even surpassing Nixon. He has lied to the American people on so many levels.
He's utilized religion as a facade to divert attention from his pro business/tax breaks for the wealthy agenda. He's disrespected the Constitution. I'm sorry but your true colors of supporting Bush for the glimmer of a hope that he might get rid of abortion and even more tax breaks for the wealthy have been revealed.
Is it OK to destroy a a nation on those two single issues? Just as long as you get what you want. Talk about tunnel vision!

Haha. The last two? Clinton took a deficit and turned it into a surplus. How can you tell if they're great leaders without giving them a chance to lead?
Did you know that JFK or Clinton or Ronald Regan were going to be great leaders? I don't think you can judge them as great leaders before giving them a chance to lead. Even Kerry would make a better leader than George Bush. He currently has one of the lowest approval ratings EVER in US history. Just about anyone credible who will take us away from Bush's policies will be a better leader.

What country are YOU looking at? Most - actually, all - the Dems are superior to Bush (though not to Bill Clinton). Even the Republicans have a couple in their field who would be superior to Bush (T. Thompson, McCain, Huckabee, Brownback).

Nobody could be worse than Bush, so the next will more than likely be a step up from him. Clinton was a good President but a bad husband. Some people have trouble recognizing the difference. I'd be relieved just to have another as good as Clinton. I'd like to hope for someone better, but it depends on who gets the nomination.

I'm with JD on this one. I don't care how many losers think President Bush is no good, I like him and voted for him, love the job he's doing and hope he can stand his ground long enough for the Country and the world to take notice.
Kerry has no qualities at all. All the people that think they are smarter than Dubya....think about it! If you are that smart why aren't you there?
I rest my case!

The President of The United States, although the most powerful person in the world is still merely a human being, and there will always be those who disagree with his/her policies and actions. Even Abraham Lincoln had his critics and political enemies. It is simply not possible to have a President who is popular with 100% of American voters Just as it is not possible for Britain to have a Prime Minister whom 100% of British voters agree with.

That's kind of a loaded question. I happen to think our current "President" is a worthless usurper, while the one that preceded him was pretty good if not great. But, in answer to your question. I don't expect our next President (Republican or Democrat) to "save us". I'm hoping for someone with a marginal amount of sanity and integrity who might be able to tone down the militant rhetoric, restore some of our once good international reputation, and give us some of our civil liberties back. Too idealistic?
