I think it's strange for anyone for anyone to still be listening to the music I listened to nearly 30 years ago, but I was a black teen who listened to punk dressed punk and went to gigs back in "the day." So yeah it seemed strange, but that by itself is no reason to stop.

Lovely in Cali I have to see that film, where were all these black punks when I was into it? :) As for us starting it, 'fraid not.

No, it's not strange at all. People of all kinds listen to punk. I personally don't care too much for punk but I've heard a few Dead Kennedy's songs that were cool (my husband likes them), but I prefer 80's rock like Queensryche.

I am a black teen that listens to rock and metal. Are you calling me a weirdo? I also dress punk... How about that!

It's only "strange" because they would be a minority within a minority. I don't think there is anything wrong with it, but they do stand out. I hate how it's like people expect all black teens to listen to rap and hip hop and act hood. Not all of us are what you see on BET. Rock on. =)

No way. I'm black, I love rock music, but the way I dress doesn't reflect the music I listen to. I have black friends who dress the same way as you do, and no one looks at them any differently.

No. I LOVE rock music and punk rock boys are mighty fine. Rap sucks anyway (not all, I'm talking about most Southern rap).

Not particularly.
The only types of music I find strange for people to listen to are thug rap and country/western.

No stranger than a white teen dressing like his favorite rap star

No, I think it's strange when people of any race act all thuggish and ghetto, it's so barbaric and pointless. At least many punk rockers of all races have intelligence and don't talk in broken english. Ghetto-acting people, on the other hand, are just stupid and a waste to society.

Absolutely not! I would presume that you are in America!

Although your scenario is probably less common than others, I can assure you that is not as uncommon globally.

Noone should make excuses as to why they dress the way they do or listen to the music that they do.
