I want to know people thoughts about the war in Iraq. Do you think the troops should go home or stay? And why?

They should be pulled out ASAP. Never should have been there in the first place.

We're not doing anything good over there. Just wasting billions of dollars and killing hundreds of thousands of people, while destroying their land and leaving ours poorly defended.

We're probably going to have some substantial pull out by next spring. Simply because we are running out of 'fresh' troops. They're all fatigued due to Bush forcing troops to skip vacation, cut short home stay...etc in order to meet his surge numbers. So unless there is draft we just won't have troops to keep up this troop level in Iraq. That'll happen around next spring(2008). But we're probably going to have troops there for long time in 1000s. ~40~50,000 troops will probably be in Iraq for many years.

Immediate withdrawal is kind of unrealistic. It took some 9months or more I think for Russian to withdraw thousands of troops from Afghan. Which is like right next door neighbor.

There's simply too much crap in Iraq for quick withdrawal. It takes lot of planning too. It is no simple pick up and go home. It's real complicated operation. We spent 4 years shipping stuff over there. It will take long time to get those things/people back home.

If anybody tell you that they can bring troops home immediately like in a month, they're lying or have no clue how troop withdrawal works. It's like moving a city across ocean. You can't do that like some weekend trip.

Only choice is gradual pull out really. Simply for the reasons regarding logistics and safety. And I think they need to start planning it soon as possible too. I think it require real plan for safe exit. Exit can also be disastrous too if not planned ahead.

Remember what happened when we ran into Iraq without any plans for post Saddam era? If we learned anything from that is to plan things ahead. Even withdrawal.

I think it does require some long term stay with smaller number of troops. We invested too much already. And Iraq should be able to improve if we do keep 40, 50,000 troops or whatever. Hopefully those troops can be replaced with some US fighter jets supporting Iraq force.

The troops should have been pulled out a long time ago but with a president like Bush talking about them coming home is just that talk. The longer the soldiers are there the higher the death toll. I'm not just talking about the soldiers there is also the Innocent bystanders caught in the cross fire. That war will never end no matter what supposed "smart" move is made by the US.

I have been against the 'pre-emtive' war from the start.

The cost of this idiocy is almost beyond comprehension--both in human terms and in money (more than 3,600 killed, 27,000 wounded, more than 1/2 trillion dollars spent). This money could have been better spent here in this country for such things as Social Security, rebuilding the infrastructure, a new air traffic control control system, and so on.

The people of Iraq cannot remain together as one nation except by the 'rule of the gun' since their first loyalty is to their tribe, second to their iman, third to the Arab nation in general, and last to their country, Iraq.

Democracy? Has anyone said to them that the idea of democracy is that everyone stands equal before the law? If they have, I must have missed it! These people are more interested in the blood feud even if it goes back centuries.

Now that we are over there, we are stuck there for years to come. Here is a frightening thought: Osama bin Laden wants to overthrow the Saudi royal family more than anything. If we were to leave Iraq, he could fly into Baghdad, proclaim peace (al-Quada in Iraq would stop bombing), unite the country and march on Saudi Arabia. Then things would be even more screwed up!

The prolongation of this questionable invasion and occupation means that everyone who pays taxes will one day be asked to pay more.

The National debt has been escalated an estimated seven hundred billion dollars.

That means get used to working harder and longer hours to pay for it, and your kids will feel the brunt of it.

Practical and modest expenses for perceived enemies who hide in shadows and can't be recognized need to be dealt with through technological means.

I can't seem to connect the dots that lead to Iraq.

Can you?

I think the troops should come home--We have spent too much money, shed too much blood and caused too much misery for too many families, It is time for the Iraqis to repair all the problems created by their people, make no mistake about it--it is their problem, their country and their welfare.

Stay.

Due to my religious beliefs, I have been straying farther from supporting war.

But, for America, it would be in their best interest to stay. If we leave, terrorists will see it as a victory...and then they will feel invincible...and then the Middle-East and America will be in big trouble.

We started this war...we shouldn't just pack up and leave the Iraqi people there to die.

IF WE PULL OUR TROOPS OUT YOU WILL BE PAYING BIG BIG BUCKS FOR GAS IF WE HAVE ANY AT ALL.
DURING WW2 IT WAS RATIONED AND SO WERE A LOT OF OTHER THINGSL

THE TERRORISTS WILL FOLLOW OUR TROOPS HOME.

THE MIDDLE EAST WILL BE TAKEN OVER BY TERRORISTS.

IT WILL ONLY TAKE ONE NUKE TO DESTROY AMERICA AND WE ARE SO CLOSE TO HAVING THAT DONE.

THEY HAVE THREATENED TO NUKE US BY SEPTEMBER OF THIS YEAR.

IF YOU WILL LISTEN TO ALL OF THE NEWS THE CHATTER IS STEPPING UP JUST LIKE IT DID BEFORE 9-11.

IF OUR OIL SUPPLY IS CUT OFF WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE. NOTHING WILL MOVE, TRUCKS CARS PLANES, BUSES,,,,,,,NO HEAT.....
