I used to hate the theme song from that program of the same title. When I was still studying in Las Pinas, our maid used to watch that and she'd burst into tears just upon hearing that song.
I watched a couple of episodes and I especially remember the one about a group of friends who haven't seen each other for a decade. The show is about their reunion and how each of them has a sad story to tell, only to find out in the end that they would not have had those problems have they not parted from each other.
My mother, who's a sucker for tear jerkers, have on DVD this episode where Roderick Paulate plays an igorot moving to the big city. Very convincing acting.
Great programming by ABS-CBN.
Nowadays they only produce crapp.

Actually, I used to watch it way back when I was in grade school, I think. I'm personally not a fan of drama, but I remember this one episode where Janno Gibbs played this gay guy, but somehow ended up falling in love with his female best friend. I found that the show picked particularly talented actors and so the drama wasn't overly done, and was actually very tasteful. I watched it every week for a couple of years, but somehow lost the habit when I got to highschool. It's the only show that I faithfully watched (for a while, at least) on ABS-CBN.
I have no idea how Maalaala mo Kaya is nowadays, but if it is as good as it was ten years ago, I'd say it is a very good show, tastefully done, and shows the realities of life. ^_^

I always watch Maalala Mo Kaya.. even here in Vegas, coz mom records all the episodes. I have been watching this show for as long as I can remember and it's been like a tradition in the family to try to guess the most significant object in the story which is the title and is shown at the end of the show. ☺ This is one show I've never outgrown!

No. I watch the other program, Magpakailanman.

Magpakailanman is easily one of the best produced drama programs on TV. I like it because you know that the story is real - - - Mel Tiangco talks to the subject at the end of the show.

The music has grown on me, although I never really liked it at the beginning. I felt it was cheesy. Maybe it helped that it was sung by Mel Tiangco's son who also composed (?) and sang a favorite, NEXT IN LINE.

The program has staying power, maybe because the host is credible and well liked. She is the same lady who handles the foundation that builds schools in remote barrios, and provides children with school bags, paper, pencil, and crayons at the start of the school year.

No wonder the program has beaten to oblivion Maalaala Mo Kaya.

yes. the stories are all poignant. the acting is great. no wonder this show has won numerous international awards for best actor and best actress (roderick paulate, aiza seguerra to name two).

my housemates and i would even join in the guessing of an episode's title.

over-all, it's a good show. no wonder too that it has been on air for more than a decade.
