How would feel if your conversations were being monitored by the united states government?

Is there any way to stop it?

I watched a show that said the government can even monitor your email conversations.

There is a saying that goes" Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely!" The constitution was written to guarantee certain rights to "ALL" citizens. When a government moves to circumvent those rights, you move from a democracy to a dictatorship. The right to privacy does not say"...when convenient" or ".. except if it makes us feel better to deny those rights"! In World War II, our government locked up all Japanese Americans and their families, because it made the rest of the citizens feel safer! We just admitted, 50-60 years later, that we were wrong and their rights were violated. Why is it any different now? Today, in our society, we incarcerate over 500,000 mentally ill because they did away with funding to treat them (We have imaginary enemies to destroy!). We now boast the largest amount of incarcerated citizens of any developed country in the world, and it's increasing! We imprison citizens for what we think the did or might do, not because there is proof they did it. They are "Undesirables" and we want them locked away so we feel safe. How do I know? I see them on "COPS" every night!

Wiretapping doesn't violate the Fourth Amendment. Wiretapping is just another kind of search. Doing it without a warrant, when a warrant is required, does violate the Fourth Amendment.

My home is my castle, I'm careful about anything that goes
beyond its walls. Your neighbor can "bug" your lines with
todays technology and I can assure you he is more interested
in your insignificant doings than the government. I have no
problems in being tapped -- if an agent wants to listen to
me pitchin woo instead of doing his job -- go for it.

If you are not plotting to take over the government, or talking to known or suspected terrorist, then why do you care if you are being wiretpped. I am more concerned about people who want to be president rasing my taxes to give away to people who do not work. I am worried about our unprotected borders, and the gov not doing anything about that. Forget wiretapping.

Wire tapping is illegal because it is a violation of the constitutional right of a person to privacy.
