I think perchance you lack not talent but ego, many women claim to be able to sing, but sound like the death throes of the proverbial tabby cat, some draw, like an average 3 year old, some are brilliant academics and dull as ditchwater, some are brilliant athletes and spend their entire lives training and watching their diets, the mere fact you have all these talented "Friends" is evidence enough that you must be a very special person or else why would all these other talented people bother with you.

Unfortunately, a virus I contracted during a vacation to a small island crippled my vocal chords so I can't sing (although, from what I've been told, hardly anyone notices the difference!), and I've never been a good dancer, and the only instrument I ever played even half-decently was a Hohner Melodica (a wind instrument with twenty or so piano keys; it sounds like a combination harmonica/organ). So, I guess I'll just have to get by on my good looks! ;) P.S. What does this question have to do with "Senior Citizens"?

I used to ask the same ?. I even wrote a paper about it in my English Comp class.
I wrote of feelings of inadequacy, secret resentment, and generally questioning my self worth; well not so much self worth, but what could it be said about me that was special or exceptional. My professor told me that I was an exceptional writer. It was a small accomplishment among those who seem blessed with the gift of music or singing, but I held on to it, and you should too.
You have people, even if you don't know them through nothing but the net who are interested in helping you discover what is special about you, a world wide forum on you; isn't that special.

Sometimes its hard for us to see the good in us
Just because you are not the "best" at something
doesnt mean you have no talent in that area....
you can try taking lessons in things that intrest you....
sometimes talents can be in strange things..
like being a good listener or reading faster than most..
just look inside!

Yeah... I don't know what mine is yet, either. I'm okay at some things, but I'm not really TALENTED at anything in particular. I guess we don't have to be. Maybe your strength doesn't lie in a particular talent, but in your versatility, or maybe you haven't found one yet.
Chances are, everybody in the world is totally excellent at something, but then you'd have to try everthing to know, wouldn't you? That's hard.
Another thing: if you love something but aren't good at it, do it anyway. Rather than having your talent fall in your lap, you may have to work at something to become skilled at it. It's an accomplishment to be really proud of.

Maybe your 'best talent' is the fact that you have NO TALENTS ... in this day and age where EVERYONE seems to have a 'special talent' I actually believe that those of us with NO TALENTS AT ALL may be 'the most special' ... we can't all be 'priests and ministers' without someone in the 'congregation' ... and YOU are that 'congregation' ... so BE PROUD OF WHO YOU ARE ... because of 'all of the people in this world' YOU are actually one of the 'rarest of creatures' alive!

Only TIME will tell. Maybe you are really good with people and you just aren't aware of it yet. All these talents are awesome BUT HOW AWESOME WOULD IT BE TO BE IN A JOB WHERE YOU HELP PEOPLE ALL THE TIME, EVERYDAY OF YOUR LIFE???? There would be nothing better than that.....look inside yourself. If this isn't it, just be patient!! I know what you mean.................

I can't say what it is for you. You just have to get out there and try everything there is to try. For all we know you might be a great actress, or a funny comedian, or be an amazing writer. Just open your mind and good luck.

Maybe you don't. Who cares? Are you happy? That's all that matters.
Maybe you can drink more than any of them...it's worth a try, and it's lots of fun!!!
