sorry hon, if ur parents think that u need a cell they would get u one. and the theory of what if something happens at school. ur schools have phones in the office that u can use in case of emergencies. why not try this if u want one why not save up about $30-40 and go to walmart and buy u a prepaid one and show ur parents that u can and would be responsible?

Do you do after school activities? if so, say you will need a cell phone to get in touch with your parents when you need a ride home. Go to the movies much? You need a cell to call when the movie ends. Do you walk to school? You need a cell phone to call if it rains.
You need to use reasons which they will suport. For example, if they are pressuring you to do a sport, Say that because of that sport you need a cell phone to call when you need a ride home or incase a last minute practice comes up. Also, make sure you do things such as make your bed and do your laundry. Show that you are responsible. Have a pet? Make sure mom isnt the one feeding it. Do not use things such as "but everyone has one!" thats weak, and parents don't care. Make sure, however, you have examples of people who do have one, incase a parent says "Does you best friend Sally have one?". Be mature. and plan it out. Don't ask at a bad time. Tell your mom or dad that you need to talk to them, and perhaps you and she could take a drive. Discuss it calmly, and don't be to pushy. Good Luck :)

FIRST, tell them that u want a cellphone and that u'll be a good son if they let u! obviously, they'll say no first since they wont believe u! then in the following month, be really good and whenever they say, "Why son, u actually cleared the dishes today!!" u answer, "I know, Its all for the cellphone!" After, doing this continously, they'll start feeling guilty gradually, and they'll HAVE to give u a cellphone sooner or later! also, when they ask u what u want, ALWAYS say cellphone so they get it through their thick heads!

Well, as a 14 year old who just got his frist cell phone, I don't really think it's nessicary unless you're going to all sorts of sports events and stuff without your parents. However, to convince them, I would say that it adds safety because you could call 911, it gives your parents a way to know where you are at all times, and it will keep you connected with your friends. Tell them that family plans are a really cheap way to get the whole family included. I wouldn't ask for an expensive phone like your friend. Many plans offer free RAZRS if you buy the plan.
And about dating. Don't worry about it. 14 seems like a reasonable age to start dating. There's not many places you can go to at your age. Just start looking for guys you might want to go out with and when you do turn 14, ask (one of) them out.

Tell them exactly that! What you asked in your question. "What if there is an emergency and I need to get a hold you?" If they say 'the school will call', tell them you might have an accident on the way home or on your way to school. Or you can take the initiative your self and start saving money and buy a prepaid phone. I know how important they are because my son will start 1st grade and I plan go get him one for emergencies.

those 'pay as you go' phones might be a good way to start - you would have a phone for emergencies, and you parents could just stop buying more time, if you were using it to talk, and talk, and talk......... they are very inexpensive to buy - it is the time purchases that are fairly expensive.

I agree with the first post, when my daughter turns thirteen, I don't want her to have a cell phone either.

well you could remind them of all the good things that you do and remind them how responsible you are then tell them that you think your responsible enough to have a cell phone and that if they get you one you can prove it to them hope this helps!

well me and you both girl, I almost got mine, but I jacked up TWICE!!! I had to make my attitude better, and get along with my family members. Just show your parents that your responsible, caring, and won't jack up anything.
