With gas prices up why are the democrats wanting to add additional taxes to it?

Well let's see might have something to do with bridges and inspections needed. The money need to come from somewhere. The Inspectors aren't going to inspect for free.
We can spend trillion of dollars on a war in a country which had nothing to do with 9/11. Why can't we fork over a little more money and have bridges inspected and fixed so what happen last week doesn't happen again.
By the way I filled up my car last week at my usual gas station and pay 2.35 cents a gallon.

Demoncrats are under the impression that high taxes solve all problems. However, the last thing oil needs is another tax. Each gallon of gas has about $2 of taxes on it already. The state (the only entity that contributes NOTHING to the production of the gas) makes the most money off each gallon. Is that money going toward repairing America's infilstructure? Of course not, it goes to higher subsities for political action committees and special interest groups (many devoted to putting oil companies out of business).

Demoncrat:
"Oh something's wrong? Let us raise taxes and form an oversight committee to study and raise awareness about the problem. That will certainely fix the problem."

The 2008 federal budget is currently $3,000,000,000,000! Yes, that says $3trillion.

Because.... the Democrat Party get Millions & Millions of dollars each Election from the Environmentalists to keep Gas Prices as high as possible.
So naturally, the Democrats will do ANYTHING to get Gas Prices higher:
Stop the drilling in Anwr.
Stop the drilling Off Shore.
Stop the dirilling on Oil Rich Government Land.
Raise Taxes on Gas.
Anyone who votes Democrats is such a gullible sucker.

They want higher gas taxes to pay for programs that "help" the american people. Their answer to everything is "have the government do it." Unfortunately the government cannot and should not be the citizenry's babysitter.

Side Note: After that bridge collapse in MN some people have brought up that there was going to be a 3 cent increase on the gas tax for infrastructure (roads ans stuff) repair. It didn't make it through...even democrats voted against it because it's an election year and they know higher taxes won't get them elected. Bet they wish they had passed it. They could blame the bridge collapse on the republicans.

What is the point of this question? the price of oil fell only today. In case you hadn't noticed, it tends to fluctuate.

As for taxes, there are some Democrats who advocate additional taxes for fuel to decrease consumption, but that is a handful. A small minority.

Do you folks really think there is a difference between the political parties? There is so much evidence available that we are living in a globally dominated society, ruled by the few, who use the 2 party system to confuse and distort the truth.

Perhaps safeguarding the public trust should be left to volunteers.

You must have been in the Delta quadrant for too long. Gasoline prices have been dropping. Down to $2.80 per gallon in my area.

1) Give that there is a war going on, it is only reasonable that our great country make some sort of sacrifice...as true americans.

2) Espcially given that a tax break was given to them by the current adminstration in a time of war when money are most despreately needed.
