Yes, it's comparable to teachers. All teachers do the same thing in essence, however they have specialties, like science teacher, math teacher, etc. So in baseball you have long relievers (just in case starter gets knocked out early, middle relievers (6th and 7th innings), setup relievers (7th and/or 8th inning), closer (8th and/or 9th inning). Mainly a setup-man works the 8th and closer the 9th, in a traditional sense. Closers usually pitch when the game is on the line (3 run lead or less, or if another pitcher makes an in control game, out of control).

No. A closer is a relief pitcher, but not all relief pitchers are closers. Each teams have many relief pitchers, with only one of those relief pitchers designated as the "closer". Other relievers are called "middle relievers", as they are counted on to perform primarily in innings 6 thru 8 (sometimes sooner if the starting pitcher did poorly and was pulled early).
The "closer" is normally the team's most reliable relief pitcher, and almost exclusively pitches the 9th inning when his team has a small lead. The team counts on the closer to shut down the opponent late in the game so the team wins the game.

No. A closer is a relief pitcher but a relief pitcher isnt always a closer. A relief pitcher is a pitcher who comes in after the starter to relieve him. A closer comes in on the last couple innings to "close" the game out.

To an extent. Closers are a subset of relief pitchers, and are usually the most high- profile relief pitchers because they rack up a bunch of saves. They usually pitch the ninth inning of close ballgames, specifically when their team is up by 1-3 runs. Closers are extremely effective pitchers for that short an extent of pitching, and so a team with a very good closer is almost assured a win if they're leading after eight innings.

A Closer is also a relief pitcher but not all relief pitchers are Closers. A Closer is just a specialized type of relief pitcher.

All closers are relievers, but not all relievers are closers.
A closer is simply a type of relief pitcher, along with setup men, middle relievers, long relievers and mopup guys.
