Sadly, I don't think it is. There are still too many backwards people who think women and black individuals are less human than while men. It makes me sick that people still think that way.

I think much of America is but the question should be, "Is the world ready for a black or female president?" A female president would have to be able to be seen by world leaders as an equal and it seems much of the Arab world would have problems right off the bat. I don't know that a black person, male or female, could carry the southern states, as sad as that is.
You are right though, a bunch of patriarchal savages still live in much of America but the average guy is not that way.

America as a nation is slow in reform, you can see this with the "attitude" towards their blacks everywhere, only reently giving them full rights, still foreign blacks are treated with so much contempt(south americans) it is disgusting. With this in mind i definitly think America is not prepared for a black president. Although many countries across the globe have black and female heads of government, i could not see this happening in America until such time as the American public are re educated in world geography and global tolerance, most american people have such little tolerance and knowledge of the rest of the world that they wouldnt know what is beyond their borders, let alone that the rest of the worl has the internet and can see the dumb questions that they constantly post on Y!Answers.

I don't have a problem with race or sex it's just you should vote for what is best for this country and listen and pay attention to them all. Hillary and Obama from what I gather are making there race and sex a campaign tool and I don't like that they are gathering campaign money from who ever offers it to them. Obama lost my vote when he made sure to keep out the press when scooping money out of Holly Woods elite nutcase's what is he telling them that the rest of us Americans should not know.Senator Clinton that's whole big can of worms there I live in upstate New York It's not pretty local hospitals closing while she's out campaigning and allot more if you live here. As for your statement patriarchal savages people like you keep biggotry and racism alive and well!!!

Im going to explain something that the libs can perhaps understand.
If a woman is elected president, thats fine. The rest of the world, however, wouldnt take her seriously. I cant say it better than that. It doesnt matter how "savage" we are - the rest of the world is moreso.
Furthermore, as for a black president, he or she would have to understand that the black citizens of this country have exactly ZERO coming to them. They were freed - thats enough of a gift for the next thousand years.
Treating blacks "special" because of what happened a long time ago, along with how they were treated by a minority of America (IE, the southern confederacy) is just as racist as being racist against blacks in the first place.
The difference is, every other race loses, and the blacks win.

That depends on AFTER doing background research on each candidate to see former alliances.
If a candidate is linked to the Bilderberg group who runs NATO, then that could spell disaster.
If a candidate has a radical Islamist as a natural father, then there presents a definite risk factor of major concern.
