On my vacation I wanted my parents to meet him and when they met him they spoke to me in private and said i'm no longer bring anybody in this house outside my ethnic group...Isn't that messed up or what??? He's a nice guy and i'm not focusing on his color. I wish my parents can do the same

I will have the same problem very soon when I bring a guy home because he's not going to be black. My parents have already told me that they don't want any mixing of the races, but they know at the same time that they cannot dictate who I'm with. In time they will learn to accept it. Good luck!! *u*

To initiate, I will respond to this answer you gave to my question about Black Native Americans. To be more precise, approximately 90-95% of "African-Americans" have Native American ancestry, not 99.9%. The term is actually incorrect because it suggests that we are the "pure" Africans from the motherland. But black americans are in reality, mixed bloods. As for my ancestry, I am black, white, indian, etc. But I categorize myself as a "Black Indian" because the black and indian blood in my veins is almost equivalent. I think that I am different from most black people because I acknowledge this heritage that no one seems to know about or even care. Most black people seem to think that to acknowledge your American Indian roots is a disgrace to African Americans. But I am not going to settle for anything other than or less than I am an American of dual African-American and Native American ancestry, which I acknowledge. I am a Black Indian. And anyone who thinks that they can categorize me as solely black has another thing coming.

To answer this question however, most parents want their children to date within their own race....you must know this with your 20 years upon God's green earth. Its not necessarily racist, its just their beliefs. Fortunately for me, my parents are more open minded. But then again, it could be shame of having such a daughter.

You're 20 yrs old you don't need your parents permission to date, neither their approval. I remember when I tried introducing my parents to my asian girlfriend, they were hesitant, made a couple of jokes and then that was it. You should let them know that they don't have the right to try and control you in that way.

My parents felt the same way but when the finally figured out I was going to go out with whomever I wanted, they were at least polite about it even though they were never happy. Buena suerte con tu nobio.

your parents are just being like most people of most races. Its not right but they are stuck in their ways. You are an adult---live your life for you. They love you and will grow to love anyone you do!! Trust me

Parents can be overprotective of their kids when it comes to dating esspecially daughters. You have to prove that he is a good guy and hopefully your parents will take off their blinders and see him for him not his race.

Just ignore them, and keep bringing people outside your ethnic group, even if they get angry at you.
