40 weeks actually is 9 months plus 1 week. One month is considered to be 4.3 weeks because there are 30 to 31 days in a month (not 28). If you multiply 4.3 by 9 it equals out to 38.7 or 39 weeks. Full term is between 38 and 40 weeks.

Pregnancy is actually 9 months and 1 week from your LMP. HOwever, conception does not occur until two weeks after your LMP. Going by that, you are only actually pregnant for 8 months and 3 weeks, so less than 9.

Pregnancy lasts for 40 weeks, which is ten lunar months (28 days=1 month). Most months do not have 28 days, however, making a difference between calendar months and lunar months.

I hope this helps explain things!

I was often confused by this myself.. but I've since learned why they do it that way.. each month isn't considered a "month" until it is over.. you can't very well call yourself 9months if you "just turned 9 months" understand? So actually 9 full months equals out to be 40 weeks... that way you are the FULL nine months.. I don't think this makes sense anywhere but in prego world, but it works! :)

a pregnancy is a total of 40weeks(10months) but people say a nine month pregnancy because most babies are born in the 9month and at the ninth month it is classed as a full term if u were 2 go into labor

It's ten months, which is from the day of your last period. Believe me, I have gone through 124 weeks of pregnancy between three children (they were all overdue) and it is 40 weeks from start to finish.
