Why, when this is Yahoo UK and Ireland, do some of you insist on answering questions with something along the lines of 'Well, obviously it differs which state you're in...' or 'It depends on your state...' etc.

...just why.

Because here in the States things vary greatly from one state to another. Each state has it's own government, governor, senate, Corporation Commission, educational system, capital and judiciary. Each state has different laws, and county laws and city laws within a state may differ from state laws. What is the law in my state might not be at all in the 4 states surrounding it. Each one of the 50 states is totally different, different school systems, different incorporating laws, different taxes, different police, everything.

You can choose if you want the uk & ireland questions or all questions in english. They can do the same with only American questions or all questions in English. If you only want people in Uk to answer, you'll need to spesify it in your question. They can't tell the difference otherwise.

I only see "Yahoo! Answers" at the top of my page...so it's not just a UK & Ireland site.

There must be a glitch, when we get online, we're supposed to be automaticlly logged in to Yahoo U.S. since Yahoo is a U.S. company. Either it's not logging us in to the proper Yahoo branch site, or your questions are being posted in a general category possibly.
We don't go to other countries branch sites just to answer your questions.......that would be kind of lame!
Have a good day

Every once in a while I somehow end up on another English language site, I'm not sure how since I haven't purposely clicked to go there. That may be what happens with those answerers or the questions that they answer.

Edit: I think your questions come up on ours sometimes.

^People my not realize you are from another country, if your talking about answering your questions.

America is a large county with different laws and sometimes customs, from state to state, or even city to city, so the answer does depend on where you live. Our federal laws are the same but not necessarily our state and local (city) laws. I hope this helped.

I have always wondered about that. But I think if yahoo sends the questions to people who set "All English Questions", they will answer them, but I still think they should use more "decipher" if you get me.
