Well medicare is already in the about 325 billion, we will easily be over 500 billion inside of 10 years even if there are no policy changes. medicare tax doesnt even pay for half of the cost of the program now and its only going to get worse.

To belabor he obvious, you have not provided a viable citation for the $500 billion number.
But even if it were true, that would be far less than Americans pay for health care insurance or out of pocket medical expenses.
See what happens when you don't do your homework?

Good idea..older americans have paid a lifetime of taxes..we have paid for others who were on social welfare programs..what the younger people don't understand that as your body gets the less able you are to work..we supported this country and it isn't too much to be taken care of in our old age

How do you feel about spending that much on the war in Iraq? I certainly don't think 500 billion is a realistic amount for only one year. But let's look at the alternative. Are you willing to bankrupt yourself to pay for your parents' medical care? Are you willing to walk over the bodies of people dying in the streets like in Bombay? Would you prefer to simply shoot anyone over the age of 70?

We all ready are... What's the matter with you? Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SSI
You must be a Republican that would rather see these people without any benefits. I'll bet you're a Christian too. You don't mind paying that much for a war though, now do you?

If it's not their fault that they're - to put it bluntly - dying, then yes it is right. But these people who are dying because they've been smoking then why should we pay for that? It's they're fault and they shouldn't expect us to sort it out for them!

No thanks. I'll keep my VA benefits. I don't like the idea of paying more taxes just so a bunch of freeloaders can get free health care.

I'm cool with it. They've earned it. That is a 10 year number you are quoting.
