my laptop has a Nvidia GeForce Go 6150, is this better than a Nvidia FX 5200 plus? and if not is it worth it, or possible to upgrade or return the laptop (its new)

FX is the designation Nvidia used for its high performance cards in the 5-Series. The cards came out in 2003. The 6-series GPUs are quite newer. Go is for mobile and granted it is not their high performance 6-series but it should have as much or more capability as the 5200 FX.

However if you are thinking of a graphics upgrade, I strongly reccomend spending the extra $100 swapping the Go 6150 for a 8400 GS or 8600 GS; each of which is an 8-series GPU and supports directX 10 for next gen vista gaming.

Higher number is not ALWAYS an indication of best performance, and you should always do a google search on your cards before you buy. sites like PC World do benchmark tests on cards as they come out: Check the date of the article to know when the chip may have come out.

They have both comparably slow performance. See rankings here:

Better gaming performance starts at rank #41.
