Are there leading astrologers today who are also respected astronomers?

Recently watched again a special about Pluto as a planet and they mentioned that in earlier times astronomers were also astrologers so was wondering in todays time if there are any who study both.

I understand the difference between astronomy and astrology and I can see why one might disregard the other. I also understand about distance affecting the strength of forces but if planets can affects other planets and the moon can affect tides I thought maybe theres some astronomers who would be curious enough to actually look into astrology.

Ptolemy has contributed to astronomy, and later he tried to adapt the ancient astrologic system to Aristotle's system, which was spread until the Renaissance by the roman church (and denied later). But Ptolemy is born before the international community of scientists, so he is a sage before a scientist.

The difference is science and pseudo-science.

Astronomy
The genuine science that developed from astrology. Astronomy deals with the stars and planets and everything about them, such as their relative motions, composition, and distance. The Earth is included only so far as it enters into the cosmic scene as a planet. Astronomy has a long history of dependable, accurate forecasts, placing it among the royalty of sciences.

This is why astronomy is a science and astrology is not. They can observe, they can measure, and run experiments. They find other planets (not astrologers) inside and outside our solar system.
They monitor the sun for sunspot activity, land humans on the moon, and land probes on comets.
They also admit to errors when the evidence shows that they are wrong.

Edit: Valid point. Click on the link and read about tides. http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/misc/tides.html

chainlightning obviously doesnt know a thing abt astrology or astrologers, but im sure in his tiny little mind he thinks he does. i've studied astrology for around 5 or 6 yrs & the thing is, u learn very quickly abt the plnts & comets & asteriods & stars. astronomy is of course very different from astrology. astronomy is abt observing the universe & its contents & just explaining why certain things do what they do. astrology studies how the universe plays a role in our lives. most ppl dont take the time 2 really look in2 astrology, they just "assume" that since its given a bad rap, it must b bad. ppl dont look 4 themselves anymore.

i think u'd find that many professional astrologers know a lot abt astronomy as well. i myself know a few things. of course, most astronomers just study astronomy. but its just 1 of those things. as far as them being "respected", as in recognized, i cant really think of any off the top of my head. there r astrologers & astronomers, theyre different. like psychiatrists & psychologists r different.
