I've been reading about what to expect "during the 4th week" and am not sure how to interpret the weeks. For example I read that implantation bleeding is in the 4th week, so should that be at the same time as my expected period?

Yes.They say the "normal" cycle is 28 days, with ovulation being around day 14. So you are 4 weeks, but actually only 2 weeks.

Not everyone has implantation bleeding, but yes if you do have it,it would roughly be when your expecting your period.

Your 4th week begins when you are 3 weeks, and ends when you are 4 weeks. Implantation bleeding usually occurs about a week after conception, which is in your 4th week. When you are 4 weeks pregnant, you begin your 5th week, and that's when your period is due. It's like how a baby is on theri first month of life, which ends when they are 1 month old, and their 2nd month of life begins. I hope that helps.

Okay here it is. Day 1 of your cycle (first day of your period) is considered Day 1 of "pregnancy". So by the time your period is due and missing, you are 4 weeks along. So in the book when they say your "4th week" they mean the week your period would be due.

Gestational age is the date of the pregnancy (starting from Day 1 of your cycle) and fetal age is the age of the baby (starting from fertilization). Most of the time doctors refer to gestational age because the exact moment of fertilization can't be determined for sure.

So if your last period was July 1, today you would be 5 weeks pregnant (gestational age). Fetal age would be 3 weeks.

Good luck.

The pregnancy "count down" actually begins before you are even technically pregnant. So you begin counting the weeks from the first day of your last period. Soooo even though you may technically have only been physically pregnant for three weeks your are actually four or more weeks pregnant because the days from the beginning of your last period are counted as well.

When you are IN your fourth week, you are 3 weeks + pregnant. When you turn four full weeks pregnant, you are then IN your fifth week.

Think of it this way-a baby's first year is that BEFORE the first birthday. S/he does not turn one until the END of the first year.

I hope this helps explain things!
