All you need is a mattress pad and a fitted sheet. Anything else is not recommended, because excess bedding is said to contribute to SIDS. They say the baby shouldn't have any pillows, blankets etc. without supervision until he or she is at least 6 months old.

If it makes you feel better for decoration purposes, you can put a bedskirt and a bumper on the crib, just make sure the baby face will not roll into the bumper. They also sell a breathable baby bumper that is made of mesh - I bought one for my son's crib. For example there is one at http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00005BPEU?ie=UTF8&tag=your03-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00005BPEU

Oh and my son loves his mobile so make sure you get one that has lights and sounds to stimulate your little one's senses. I bought this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0007GDOF0?ie=UTF8&tag=your03-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0007GDOF0
