I take Larry Bird any time, any day! The most hardworking player in NBA history. Most players played because it's their job, but to Larry Bird, it's his life. Shoots better than most shooting guards/forwards. Rebounds better than most big men. And considered by many as one of the best passer in history. He's a born winner and hates to lose. He'll just do anything to win. A very shy guy off the court. But on the court, he's the best or most notorious trash talker of all-time coz he knows when and how to buck-up his words.

I love larry bird. He's the hardest working, most dedicated, least "naturally talented" player to ever play the game.
When i say "least naturally talented", i dont mean he sucks.. i mean he wasn't born with the amazing talent that jordan had. Bird wasn't the fastest... couldnt jump the highest... and wasn't the strongest... but he was a force in the NBA for years. He was in the gym first and left last. He was fueled by his emotions and his desire to win. Most people will say he was one dimensional and only shot 3's.. but they only got to see Larry Legend in his later years. When he was younger, he could drive to the hoop, stop and pop, had an amazing set shot... and was an AMAZING passer. Not to mention his naturaly ability to lead a team.
Magic Johnson said Larry Bird was the one player he was scared of... And i don't blame him.

Personally, I would go for Bird. He lacks the flair and athleticism that Magic and MJ had. All 3 are consistent and valuable players in their own right and had outstanding careers. Not to mention the dynasties they established. Bird has sound basketball fundamentals and seeing him shoot his J makes it seem so effortless. He also has good defensive skills than some can imagine and passes great too. By a hair's breadth, I will go for Bird. The 3 HOFamers play at different styles and had outstanding games that it makes it quite hard to separate the 3.

Jordan for the accolades, because he carried his team with one less hall of famer. Magic had Worthy and Kareem...while Bird had Parish and McHale. Jordan only have Pippen, granted he had a solid team on his reign with the bulls.
But in a skill-set way, I would pick Magic since he can play 5 different positions on the court (don't forget that 42 pt game as a rookie playing center, instant classic)...He doesnt have a consistent J but he still managed to average 18-23 ppg every year and have crazy assist numbers.
Oh and im 22

B-nut : You are right on the money! Bird had the best all-around fundamental skills ever. He could shoot like West, pass like Cousy, rebound like Rodman, FT like Barry or Murphy, and his court awareness was in a league by itself. What cracks me up is that a lot of these guys forget that Bird was also 3 time defensive team before the injuries started limiting his mobility.

I'd take bird he could do so much and would go balls out every night and make those around him better. Jordan was great but i feel that in general the level of competitiveness in the league was less then when bird was playing
